In a “mass casualty incident,” several people were gunned down on Wednesday in Dixon, Illinois, according to local authorities.

Emergency services rapidly responded to the Lost Lake community where the shooting took place, amidst a heavy police presence. The status of the victims was posted on the Winnebago Boone & Ogle County Fire/Ems Incidents Facebook page.

Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon confirmed that their emergency department received three victims from the incident.

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Department refrained from commenting when approached by the press. According to their website, an official news conference was due at 3:30 p.m.

Local media coverage featured aerial footage of the scene, showcasing a host of law enforcement and personal vehicles parked on the roadside. A mobile command center was set up by the Ogle County Sheriff’s department at the end of the driveway, cordoned off with yellow police tape.
