Ocean City Mayor, Jay A. Gillian, issued a statement addressing the incident. “Ocean City experienced issues related to large crowds of teens on the Boardwalk, including fights and disorderly conduct during the start of Memorial Day Weekend,” Gillian said. Videos of a fight involving a group of adolescents and panicked crowds fleeing the boardwalk circulated online following Saturday’s incident. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and frightening. One mother, Melissa, recounted her experience of watching children and adults being knocked down as panic ensued.

Trey Gibson, another eyewitness, was two blocks away when the commotion started. “There was a lot of screaming and running. It was really chaotic, pretty scary,” he said.
