Matt Zollers Commits to University of Missouri
Pennsylvania’s star high school quarterback, Matt Zollers, committed to the University of Missouri at a press conference held at Spring-Ford High School. As the top-rated football prospect in Pennsylvania for the Class of 2025, his decision was eagerly anticipated.
Choosing Missouri Over Other Schools
Zollers, a junior at Spring-Ford High School, had Penn State, Pittsburgh, and Georgia among his shortlisted options. However, he chose Missouri, stating it was the university he felt most comfortable with in terms of players and coaches.
Zollers’ Impressive Rankings
In the Class of 2025, Zollers is ranked No. 46 nationally as per the On3 Industry Ranking, which amalgamates ratings from multiple recruitment services. Apart from being the top player in Pennsylvania, he is also No. 5 quarterback in his class.
Record-Breaking Junior Season
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 205 lb, Zollers had a spectacular junior season, breaking Spring-Ford’s single-season and career passing records. He threw for 2,917 yards with 37 touchdowns and only two interceptions, leading the Rams to a 9-3 record in 2023. His On3 profile lists 21 FBS schools who offered him a scholarship.
Missouri’s Growing Football Program
Mizzou, as the University of Missouri is colloquially known, has been making significant strides in the Southeastern Conference, a powerhouse of college football teams. With an 11-2 record in 2023, capped by a victory over Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl, Zollers’ commitment is a significant boost for the Tigers. He is touted to be a pivotal player in their challenge for SEC supremacy against powerhouses like Georgia, Alabama, and LSU.
Spring-Ford Support and Zollers’ Future
Zollers credited the support he received from the Spring-Ford coaching staff and administration in managing the recruitment process. With his commitment to Missouri, he can now focus on his senior year at Spring-Ford and soak in the high school experience. As Zollers puts it, “it’s going to be more relaxing for the next couple of months”.
