Officers responded to the report of the suspicious package in the 300 block of First Street, Southeast, at 7:45 a.m. Eastern time. After hazardous materials teams removed the package contents, the lockdown order was lifted before 10 a.m.

Previous Incidents at the R.N.C.

On the same day, another suspicious package caused an evacuation at the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters in Washington, situated a few blocks from the Capitol.
