Partridge Creek Farm Plans Expansion: Future Growth News

Partridge Creek Farm in Ishpeming has received approval from the local Planning Commission to expand its operations, aiming to grow an extra 7,000 pounds of food this year.

Sara Johnson, Partridge Creek Farm’s Executive Director, confirmed that this expansion will support their efforts in combating food insecurity within the local community. Johnson noted that the additional land will boost the farm’s food production from 2,000 pounds in 2023 to an anticipated 9,000 pounds in 2024.

Johnson indicated that new crops will be allocated to the Ishpeming community, local school cafeterias, and other community partners in the West End. The farm will maintain a portion of the new land for education and community gathering purposes.

According to Johnson, this expansion was largely possible thanks to the financial support from the Community Foundation of Marquette County, the West End Health Foundation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Ishpeming Lions Club.

Starting June 26, the public can purchase fresh produce directly from the farm. Payment methods will include cash, card, SNAP/EBT, and Food as Medicine vouchers. Furthermore, from June 27, Partridge Creek Farm will host public farm workdays every Thursday.

The farm is currently seeking a truck donation to bolster its operations. To donate or gain more information about Partridge Creek Farm, visit their website.
