A body discovered by pedestrians in Washtenaw County’s Northfield Township led to the arrest of a Dearborn man. The deceased, identified as Brazilian citizen Suzan Barbosa-Ferreira, was found in a culvert along a dirt road on the 7700 block of Earhart Road on June 30, 2024.

The victim’s last known location was traced back to a Dearborn residence by Northfield and Dearborn Police investigators. On July 9, the 57-year-old Dearborn resident, Fareed George Hajjar, was arrested in connection with the case.

“Our officers worked tirelessly with Northfield Township to identify a person of interest, gather evidence, and present the case to the prosecutor’s office. The investigation remains ongoing and active,” stated Dearborn Police Commander Timothy McHale.

On July 12, the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office charged Hajjar with Dead Bodies – Disinterment and Mutilation and Concealing the Death of an Individual. A $2 million cash/surety bond was issued by the Honorable Magistrate James Cameron of the 14A-3 District Court in Chelsea.

The Preliminary Exam Conference is scheduled for July 25. Northfield Township Police Chief Martin Smith thanked the community for their patience during this sensitive investigation, maintaining the integrity of evidence.
