TL/DR –

Several former officials from the Trump administration, including ex-Vice President Mike Pence, John Kelly, and two of his defense secretaries, have publicly denounced Donald Trump and endorsed Kamala Harris for president. They have criticized Trump as a potential threat to the constitution, unfit for office, and accused him of embodying fascist characteristics. In addition to these major figures, other high level officials ranging from cabinet members to White House staff and executive branch personnel have also rejected Trump’s potential return to the presidency.

Many former Trump officials, including Mike Pence, John Kelly, and two of his defense secretaries, have rejected Trump, endorsing Kamala Harris for president instead.

Last week, Donald Trump’s longest-serving chief of staff, retired US Marine Corps general John Kelly, warned the American public about the risk of re-electing Trump.

Kelly’s not the only ex-Trump official to express concerns. Mike Pence, Trump’s own vice president, declined to support Trump for a second term, like many other former Trump staff members.

Cabinet-level officials

Beyond Pence, numerous ex-Trump cabinet officials have publicly criticised Trump:

  1. Mark Esper and Jim Mattis, both former defense secretaries, have spoken out against Trump’s fitness for office.
  2. National security advisors John Bolton and H.R. McMaster expressed concerns about a potential Trump re-election.
  3. Former Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats, supported Mike Pence in the 2024 Republican primary and criticised Trump’s alleged possession of classified documents.

White House officials

Six ex-White House officials have publicly rejected Trump and/or endorsed Harris for president:

  1. Former White House communications director and press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, expressed fear about Trump’s potential re-election.
  2. Communications directors Anthony Scarmucci and Sarah Matthews, along with executive assistant Cassidy Hutchinson, deputy White House press secretary, and communications director of the Office of Public Liaison, Omarosa Manigault Newman, have all endorsed Kamala Harris.

Other executive branch officials

Several more ex-executive branch officials have publicly rejected Trump and/or endorsed Harris for president:

  1. Former FBI director James Comey and former assistant director Greg Brower have both endorsed Harris.
  2. Former Homeland Security officials Miles Taylor, John Mitnick, and Elizabeth Neumann have also endorsed Harris.

Other notable Republicans

Ex-President George W. Bush has refused to endorse Trump. Dick Cheney, ex-vice president, and his daughter, Liz Cheney, former US Rep., have publicly opposed Trump. US Senator Mitt Romney, who ran against Barack Obama in 2012, has also been a vocal critic of Trump.
