TL/DR –

Donald Trump is inaugurated as president again, delivering two contrasting speeches and planning to issue a set of executive orders. In his presidential speeches, Trump outlined an aggressive agenda including pursuing unity and reversing “America’s decline” but also returned to his claims that the 2020 election was “totally rigged.” On his first day in office, Trump is expected to sign several executive orders which include declaring a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, resuming construction on his border wall, ending birthright citizenship, and several others that significantly exceed the number of orders signed by him in 2017 and by Joe Biden in 2021.

In a special Inauguration Day edition, we cover Donald Trump’s oath of office and his inaugural speeches, as well as his ambitious executive orders in his second term as president.

Trump’s executive order flurry

Trump’s third set of remarks at Capital One Arena in downtown Washington reveal his intention to sign an extensive range of executive orders, from declaring a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border to reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy and terminating diversity programs in federal agencies. The number and scope of these executive orders surpass his first day in office in 2017 and those signed by Joe Biden in his inaugural day.

Biden’s final acts: pre-emptive pardons

In his final act as president, Joe Biden announced a series of pre-emptive pardons for family members. Biden maintained these pardons were not admissions of guilt but merely safeguarding measures against politically motivated attacks.
