Introducing Maddy Forlenza, Equities.com’s New Marketing Intern

Hi everyone! My name is Maddy Forlenza, and I’m thrilled to be the new marketing intern for Equities.com. I’m a double-major in finance and marketing at the University of Maryland, making this internship an ideal fit for me.

While I get acclimated to the work environment, I am struck by the company’s commitment to impact investing and its dedication towards positive social and environmental changes along with financial returns.

This company is focused on reaching not just any investors, but specifically young investors, like Gen Z. This generation is known for its perseverance and desire for change. Now, I have the opportunity to share my real-world corporate experiences with you, whether you’re Gen Z or not.

How Women are Powering the Future of Impact Investing

Finance has, historically, not always been inclusive or welcoming to women. But times are changing and women are quietly emerging as a driving force in impact investing, one of the most significant trends in finance. The Power of Her Portfolio event aims to educate advisors and wealth managers on how women are transforming the client experience.

Women’s Growing Role in Investing

Did you know that women currently control approximately $14 trillion in personal wealth in the United States? By 2030, this number is predicted to more than double to $30 trillion. Women are not a “niche market” – they are the future of wealth.

Studies indicate that women are more likely than men to consider impact investing — investing in companies that align with their values. Some examples include supporting renewable energy, diverse leadership, or ethical supply chains. Women are certainly opting for returns with responsibility.

Investing as a Tool for Change

As a woman myself, my decision-making is often value-driven, prioritizing broader social good. Women are using investing as a tool to align their money with their values, focusing on issues such as gender equity, climate change, and racial justice.

Women are unafraid to examine how companies treat their workers or approach diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). This more patient, research-based approach is gaining prominence in the market.

Growth and good are no longer mutually exclusive, and women are evidence of that. Every. Single. Day.

If you’re an advisor interested in understanding the increasing number of women investing, consider registering for The Power of Her Portfolio: Advising women with insight and intention, on June 20th from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM ET.

Until next time…
