Lizza alleges Nuzzi shared opposition research with Kennedy during his campaign, essentially acting as a private political operative while maintaining the facade of an impartial reporter. He outlines these claims in his Telos News Substack newsletter.
He recalls an instance where Nuzzi, then a writer for New York magazine, received inside information from a campaign aide about Kennedy’s running mate choice, Nicole Shanahan. Instead of reporting it, Nuzzi urged the aide to stay loyal to Kennedy, then informed Kennedy of the potential leak.
According to Lizza, Nuzzi also leaked information told to her off the record regarding former President Biden. He further details her coverage of the 2024 presidential campaign, including a possible revelation from sketch artist Isabelle Brourman about President Trump. Brourman is reportedly the artist behind a nude painting of Nuzzi set to feature in Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue.
Lizza also accuses Nuzzi of having an affair with ex-U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford during his 2020 campaign. He details these allegations in “Part 1” of his Telos News series and claims to have found an unfinished love letter confirming their relationship.
He later revealed an erotic poem he alleges Kennedy shared with Nuzzi.
Nuzzi left New York magazine after a 2024 revelation of her digital relationship with Kennedy. Following an internal investigation, she and the magazine parted ways. She currently works as Vanity Fair’s West Coast editor.
Nuzzi’s lawyer, Ari Wilkenfeld, decries Lizza’s claims as ongoing harassment, while The White House, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and Vanity Fair’s parent company Condé Nast have not provided comments.
