The Singleton Foundation for Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship recognized Kenneth Langone and Tony Xu with its prestigious CEO Prizes for their exceptional leadership and commitment to their companies. The award also acknowledges their response to the recent Southern California wildfires.
Singleton CEO Prize for Excellence in Business Leadership
“The CEO Prize celebrates extraordinary CEOs whose stories and lessons inspire the next generation of business leaders,” says Shelley Miles, CEO of the Pasadena-based Singleton Foundation. The Singleton CEO Prize for Excellence in Business Leadership, a lifetime achievement award, was bestowed upon Kenneth G. Langone, chairman of Invemed Associates and co-founder of Home Depot.
Singleton Next Generation CEO Prize for Excellence in Business Leadership
The Next Generation CEO Prize, recognizing upcoming CEOs who follow in the footsteps of Henry Singleton, was awarded to Tony Xu. Xu, the CEO and co-founder of DoorDash, helps businesses grow and innovate, connecting consumers to local businesses in more than 30 countries.
Philanthropic Contributions
In conjunction with the award, the Singleton Foundation made donations to each honoree’s charity of choice. Langone’s $250,000 gift was donated to the NYU Stern Langone Part-Time MBA program, while Xu’s $100,000 donation was directed to UC San Francisco.
Singleton Foundation for Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship
The Singleton Foundation for Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship was established in 2015 by Will and Cary Singleton. Its mission is to promote financial literacy and entrepreneurship. Its programs, which include an annual Prize, a digital series, a business simulation game, and web-apps for business creation and financial planning, had collectively generated 1.4 billion across social media channels, acquired 1.4 million subscribers, and supported 10,000 business ideas by 2024.
