Trump Mixes Politics and Christmas Eve Calls to Children Nationwide

TL/DR –

During Christmas Eve calls with children as part of the U.S. military’s annual NORAD Tracks Santa event, former President Donald Trump discussed topics such as energy production and the 2020 election. President Trump has previously supported the coal industry, signing an executive order in April to bolster its standing by easing regulations on mining operations and exports. After the event, Trump moved the focus back to politics by posting a holiday message on Truth Social, where he addressed his detractors and highlighted his accomplishments during his presidential term.

Christmas Eve Calls: Trump Talks Politics and Santa with Children

During the annual NORAD Tracks Santa event, President Donald Trump discussed topics like energy production and the 2020 election with children.

One 8-year-old girl said she didn’t want coal for Christmas, to which Trump responded, “You mean clean, beautiful coal.”

Trump, a long-time coal industry ally, signed an executive order earlier this year to bolster coal by loosening regulations.

He also joked about the U.S. government tracking Santa Claus to ensure his behaviour, referencing NORAD’s annual tradition of tracking Santa’s journey since the 1950s.

“We track Santa all over the world. We want to ensure he’s not a bad Santa infiltrating our country,” Trump said.

Talking to a child from Pennsylvania, Trump falsely claimed to have beaten former President Joe Biden there in the 2020 election.

With some callers, Trump focused on holiday topics, not mentioning his 2018 conversation where he questioned a 7-year-old’s belief in Santa Claus.

In a call with an 8-year-old from North Carolina, he humorously discussed whether Santa would be upset if there were no cookies left for him.

After the call session, Trump returned to politics in a holiday message posted on Truth Social.
