New Poll Indicates Shift in Support for Trump’s Military Actions in Venezuela
A recent Axios poll reveals a significant shift in approval for the Trump administration’s military strikes in Venezuela.
The YouGov poll, conducted on January 5-6, reveals that 74% of Republicans back the U.S. military intervention in Venezuela.
The survey was taken after President Donald Trump announced the U.S. military operation in Venezuela, leading to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores on January 3.
This figure is a substantial increase from a previous poll conducted just days earlier, where only 53% of Republicans stated their support for such military action.
Meanwhile, another poll conducted from December 20-22 showed that figure at just 43%.
The most recent poll, however, reveals that only 14% of Democrats strongly or somewhat support the military intervention.
Across party lines, there was more agreement on the future of Venezuela, with nearly half of both Democrats (49%) and Republicans (48%) stating a new election should be the next step for the South American country.
The latest YouGov poll, surveying 1,097 U.S. citizens over 18, has a margin of error of ±3.9 percentage points.
