Alberta Advantage Immigration Program Invites Over 1,000 Candidates in May

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted four selection rounds from May 1–May 13, inviting a total of 1,051 candidates to apply for provincial nomination, including health and tech professionals, as well as people planning to live and work in rural Alberta. The most invitations were issued through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, which accounted for approximately 79.2% of all May invites. As of May 14, Alberta had 4,212 nomination spaces remaining out of the 6,403 allocated to the province by the federal government.

The AAIP distributed the invitations under various streams and pathways. The Alberta Opportunity Stream accounted for approximately 79.2% of all invites in May.

Alberta has invited 6,269 AAIP candidates for provincial nomination so far, with the majority issued through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

In addition to its regular PNP allocation, Alberta has also used additional nomination spaces to attract practice-ready physicians (50) and francophone candidates (12).

Expressions of Interest and Applications Awaiting Processing

Alberta’s data provides stream-by-stream breakdowns of the number of EOIs and provincial nomination applications awaiting a decision. As of May 14, the province had a total of 40,161 worker EOIs in its pool, with 63.7% under the Alberta Opportunity Stream. Currently, 1,303 applications are in the AAIP’s inventory awaiting processing.

AAIP entrepreneur streams are not included in the worker EOI pool as they undergo a separate consideration process.
