U-M World Performance: Graduate Capstone Show ‘Shikhandi’

The U-M Center for World Performance Studies is hosting graduate capstone performances where grad students present their final projects including dance, music, and storytelling influenced by cultural practices worldwide. The featured performance is by local traditional Indian dancer Sriyashi Dey, who presents a new piece that explores gender and identity issues through Shikhandi, a character from the Indian epic Mahabharata. The event is scheduled for November 28, 2023, from 6-9 p.m. at the East Quad Keene Theater.

Tonight’s highlight is local traditional Indian dancer, Sriyashi Dey, who brings to life a new piece centered around the exploration of gender and identity issues. This performance focuses on Shikhandi, a lesser-known character from the Indian epic, Mahabharata. The event takes place at the East Quad Keene Theater, 701 East University, and is free of charge.
