SAN ANTONIO

Christopher Preciado, 19, and his father, Ramon Preciado, 53, were arrested in connection with the murders of Savanah Soto and Matthew Guerra, San Antonio police confirmed on Wednesday.

Family members informed KSAT that the bodies of the missing pregnant 18-year old Soto and her boyfriend, Guerra, 22, were found in their car in the 5900 block of Danny Kaye on Dec. 26, 2023.

Christopher Preciado stands charged with capital murder while his father, Ramon, faces abuse of corpse charges in connection to the case.

San Antonio police revealed that they retrieved a cellphone, a crucial piece of evidence, at the crime scene in a Northwest Side apartment complex parking lot.

The data on the cell phone led the detectives to a suspect vehicle seen in a surveillance video released by the police on Dec. 28.

Upon arriving at the believed location of the suspect vehicle, officers conducted surveillance. Ramon Preciado answered the door when police knocked, stating that he knew why the police were there.

The father-son duo was subsequently taken into custody and questioned at the police headquarters. A judge signed a warrant for their arrest based on the information gathered during the interrogation.

According to the police, the killings were related to a failed drug deal, and Soto and Guerra were murdered before midnight on Dec. 21. Christopher Preciado is the alleged sole murderer, with his father accused of helping conceal the bodies.

The police clarified that there is no connection between where the bodies were discovered on Dec. 26 and where the victims were initially killed.

The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) will collaborate with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office to consider any additional charges, given that Soto was pregnant at the time of her death. Police also mentioned that Christopher Preciado has no previous criminal record, whereas his father has a minor one.
