Republican Senate Frontrunner Kari Lake Attends QAnon-Linked Fundraiser

Republican Senate frontrunner Kari Lake attended a fundraiser on Friday hosted by donors associated with the far-right QAnon conspiracy theory, Politico reported.

The hosts, Caryn and Michael Borland, are known to have endorsed QAnon, a belief system that suggests former President Donald Trump is battling evil forces within the government, often linked to child sex trafficking.

Trump has avoided dismissing the theory publicly, and has frequently included QAnon symbols in his social media posts.

According to an invitation copy obtained by The Arizona Republic, the fundraiser took place at the Borlands’ Prescott home. Ticket prices varied from $50 to $13,200 per person.

Freshman Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., shared photos of himself, Lake, and former Trump aide Steve Bannon at the event.

\”Awesome night in Prescott with Steve Bannon and @KariLake,\” Crane tweeted. \”AZ is key this November and I’m proud to stand with these fighters. #AmericaFirst.\”

In 2020, an event with former Vice President Mike Pence and the Borlands in Montana was canceled after their QAnon-supporting social media posts surfaced.

The Borlands have historically been generous political donors, contributing over $1 million to Trump’s 2020 campaign, according to the New York Times. They donated over $500,000 to conservative candidates or causes in 2022, and each contributed the maximum amount of $6,600 to Lake’s Senate campaign, as per federal election records.

Media contacts for Lake’s campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
