U.S. News & World Report’s Best U.S. High Schools 2023

The latest annual ranking of “Best U.S. High Schools” by U.S. News & World Report has been released, showcasing schools whose students demonstrate outstanding outcomes, including achieving high graduation rates.

Criteria for Ranking Best High Schools in the U.S.

Nearly 18,000 schools were evaluated on a national, state, and local level. Exceptional scores on state assessments for math, reading, and science were achieved by students of the schools included in the national ranking.

According to Tuesday’s news release by the publication, these schools also demonstrated strong underserved student performance, college readiness, curriculum breadth, and high graduation rates.

Indiana’s Signature School Makes Top 100

The only Indiana high school to make it to the top 100 on the national ranking is the Signature School in Evansville, which climbed up to the No. 2 spot this year from the No. 3 spot in 2022.

The only school ranked higher on the 2023 list is North Carolina’s The Early College at Guilford, which made a significant leap from being ranked No. 35 in 2022.
