Historic Facts and Whiskey Tours at Dad’s Hat
Co-founder Herman Mihalich often shares about Pennsylvania’s rich history in whiskey distilling during tours at the Bristol-based Dad’s Hat Distillery. This informative approach has been an integral part of their operations, contributing to the creation of Pennsylvania’s finest rye whiskey.
The Birth of Dad’s Hat Distillery
Inspired by his childhood experiences and a revival of interest in rye whiskey, Mihalich decided to breathe new life into the rye whiskey scene. Along with former Penn fraternity brother John Cooper, the two developed a business model and started experimenting with old Pennsylvania rye recipes. Despite initial skepticisms from Kentucky and Indiana distillers about sourcing quality American rye grain, the duo managed to partner with local Bucks County farmers to grow it.
