Senior from Cheltenham Sets Record for the Best Triple Jump in PA History
Cheltenham High School’s Senior Track and Field Star, Jordan Sowell, Breaks Pennsylvania Triple Jump Record
Jordan Sowell, a valued senior of Cheltenham High School’s ever-competitive track and field team, magnificently broke a Pennsylvania triple jump record, a mark that stood unbroken for 14 long years. This significant achievement was recorded on Sunday, January 14.
Record-Breaking Performance at Kristian Marche Memorial Invitational
At the prestigious Kristian Marche Memorial Invitational held at the Armory in New York City, Sowell recorded a personal-best mark of 51 feet, 1 inch. Sowell’s exceptional performance, using his last attempt to shatter Carlton Lavong’s 2010 state mark of 50-6.75, won the event by a staggering margin of almost six feet.
Top of National Rankings and Previous Record-setting Performance
Sowell’s remarkable triple jump mark catapulted him to the top of the national rankings. This record-breaking feat comes quickly on the heels of another record-setting performance he delivered at the Track and Field Coaches Association of Greater Philadelphia Meet No. 1. This impressive event took place on Saturday, December 16 in Lehigh.
