Elon Musk Announces New Political Party Amid Trump Feud

Elon Musk unveiled the establishment of a new political party, the America Party, in the midst of a dispute with President Donald Trump over the “Big Beautiful Bill”. Musk communicated via an X post, “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO implied that the party could influence contentious laws by securing a select number of Senate seats and House districts. Musk stated on X that the party’s immediate focus would be the House and Senate, with potential presidential candidates to be considered later.

Trump responded on his Truth Social platform, suggesting Musk had “gone completely off the rails”. He continued to insinuate that Musk’s discontent stemmed from the removal of incentives for electric car purchases within the spending bill.

When asked about the America Party, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent suggested that Musk’s companies would prefer him to focus on business rather than politics.

Musk’s popularity has taken a significant hit. His favorability rating dropped from nearly 50% to 35%, as per Economist-YouGov polls.

Anthony Scaramucci, SkyBridge Capital founder and former White House communications director, also expressed interest in discussing Musk’s party. Billionaire Mark Cuban endorsed the idea of the new party as well.

Musk’s announcement follows a July 4 poll querying X users about the need for “independence” from the two-party system, which received a 65% affirmative response from the 1.25 million participants.

Musk remains vocal in his criticism of Trump’s“Big Beautiful Bill,”, a major domestic policy bill, citing it as a form of “debt slavery.”

Analysts like Tesla bull Dan Ives have voiced concerns that Musk’s political involvement jeopardizes Tesla’s trajectory if he fails to refocus his attention on the business.

Baird analysts downgraded the Tesla stock, noting that the Musk-Trump spat adds “uncertainty to TSLA’s outlook.
