Explaining the Wish List of Trump’s Presidency

TL/DR –

The conservative Heritage Foundation has proposed a 900-page governing agenda for Donald Trump, termed Project 2025, should he get elected in November. The blueprint involves extensive changes such as dismissing several civil servants, expanding presidential powers, dismantling several federal institutions like the Department of Education, and major tax cuts. However, a strong opposition is mobilizing against this agenda, branding it a “dystopian plot” that threatens democratic institutions, as the competition between President Biden and Trump intensifies.

Democrats are preparing to fight potential policies of a re-elected Donald Trump. This comes after the conservative Heritage Foundation produced ‘Project 2025’, a policy agenda for the potential Trump administration.

The 900-page document includes proposals for a vast overhaul of the federal government, such as eliminating numerous agencies and implementing widespread tax cuts.

Liberal opposition has been growing as the presidential race tightens. Policies for potential future governments are common in DC, with the liberal Center for American Progress serving as an ‘ideas factory’ for Barack Obama.

In response, Congressman Jared Huffman announced a task force to counteract Project 2025, labeling it a ‘dystopian plot’.

Heritage rebuked these accusations, calling Democrats’ reaction a ‘smear campaign’.

Project 2025 has four core tenants: restore the family, dismantle the administrative state, defend national sovereignty, and secure individual freedoms.

Dubbed ‘Agenda 47’, Project 2025 is one of several policy papers aiming to guide a potential second term for Trump.

Government and Immigration

Project 2025 seeks to put federal bureaucracy under direct presidential control, remove job protections, and reform various federal agencies. It also proposes increased funding for the US-Mexico border wall and an expansion of immigration agencies’ powers.

Climate and Economy

The document suggests cutting federal investment in renewable energy, promoting oil and natural gas, and replacing carbon reduction goals with energy production plans. It also sketches out tax reforms and potential changes to trade policies.

Abortion and Education

While not suggesting a nationwide abortion ban, Project 2025 proposes withdrawal of the abortion pill mifepristone. It also outlines plans for school choice, parental control, and elimination of ‘woke propaganda’ in education.
