TL/DR –

Former Trump attorney, William Brennan, has praised Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the New York hush money case involving President Donald Trump. Brennan has called Merchan a professional, and a pleasure to work with, and he has also complimented prosecutor Joshua Steinglass of the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. This is in contrast to Trump’s repeated accusations of Merchan’s unfairness during the trial.

In contrast to Trump’s frequent criticism of Merchan during the trial, Brennan offered a different take on Fox News’ “America Reports”. He expressed admiration for both Judge Merchan and prosecutor Joshua Steinglass from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, referring to each as a “pro”.

“With over three decades of experience in criminal law, it’s been a pleasure working before him. The professionalism of Judge Merchan and his team, including Steinglass, really makes a difference,” Brennan stated.

Brennan, previously Trump’s attorney in his second impeachment trial and a payroll tax case, spoke highly of his interactions with Merchan. “In my personal capacity, having represented the president in other matters, I can say that Judge Merchan has consistently treated me well,” he noted during the interview.

Brennan emphasized Merchan’s qualities, describing him as a gentleman with intelligence and strong work ethic. “I steer clear of political discussions; it’s beyond my scope and I have no political agenda,” he added.

Trump is facing 34 counts of falsifying business records related to reimbursements to his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, for a payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The payment was allegedly to suppress claims of an affair, which Trump denies. Trump has been openly critical of Merchan, even labeling him “crooked” and challenging a gag order that restricts his ability to insult various parties involved in the trial.
