Guidelines for Republishing CalMatters Content – Free But With Conditions

CalMatters allows free republishing of its articles, provided certain conditions are met. The republishing entity must credit CalMatters and the individual journalists prominently, refrain from altering the original articles, and not sell the articles or place specific advertisements against them. CalMatters images created by staff or labelled “for CalMatters” can be republished alongside the related story, but images from wire services like Associated Press and Reuters are not free for republishing.

Credit our Journalists:
Ensure you give credit to our authors at the start of the article and in any other byline areas. For instance, use “By Author Name, CalMatters.” For guest commentary re-publications from CalMatters, use “By Author Name, Special for CalMatters” in the byline. See an example here.
Acknowledge CalMatters:

Keep the Story Intact:
