Over 200 Ex-Bush, McCain, Romney Staffers Endorse Kamala Harris.
TL/DR –
More than 200 former Republican staffers have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in an open letter, expressing their intent to vote for the Harris-Walz ticket in the upcoming election. The letter condemns Trump’s policies and Project 2025, a blueprint for his potential second term, arguing it will harm everyday people and weaken institutions. Despite some ideological differences with Harris and Gov. Walz, the former staffers deem the alternative “untenable” and urge other Republicans and independents to vote for leaders aiming for unity and consensus over chaos and division.
Ex-staffers from Republican presidencies align with Harris-Walz ticket, rejecting Trump’s policies and Project 2025
In a letter published Monday, over 200 former Republican employees from the Bush presidencies, as well as Sen. Mitt Romney and late Sen. John McCain, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
The ex-staffers previously opposed Trump’s 2020 presidential race and now jointly pledge their votes for the Harris-Walz ticket in November.
Trump’s policies and Project 2025, a detailed plan for a second Trump term, were condemned in the letter. They believe that the proposals in Project 2025 will harm ordinary citizens and undermine our sacred institutions.
Trump’s foreign policy approach is also criticised as a threat to global democratic movements. The ex-staffers call on other Republicans and independents to support leaders who promote consensus over chaos and unity over division by voting for the Harris-Walz ticket.
The signatories anticipate ideological disagreements with Vice President Harris and Gov. Walz, but deem the alternative untenable.
This letter follows public criticisms of Trump by key Republicans at the Democratic National Convention.
Over two dozen Republicans, including ex-governors, Congress members, and former Trump administration officials, have pledged support for Harris.
Bush, McCain, Romney have all criticised Trump and/or been targets of his notorious inflammatory attacks.
Romney earlier commented that having a president with no character greatly impacts America’s character, as it has been shaped by the character of its leaders.
