USA TODAY/Suffolk Poll results show Trump and Harris Tied in Michigan

The latest exclusive USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll reveals a dead heat between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump in Michigan. With 15 crucial electoral votes on the line, the state shows equal support for both candidates at 47% among 500 polled likely voters.

David Paleologos, a pollster for Suffolk University, refers to the race as a “true margin of error race”. Notably, the results in Michigan’s bellwether Kent County align with the state’s overall tie, hinting at the county’s potential to be a determining factor in the election. Paleologos suggests any of the three third-party candidates in the race, each polling at about 1%, could make a substantial difference in the final outcome.

The poll’s results underscore the fiercely competitive nature of the race in Michigan and other key “Blue Wall” states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, all of which flipped from Democratic to Republican in 2016 before being recaptured by Biden in 2020.

The voters’ opinions are equally divided. Linda Randle, a retiree from Lathrop Village supports Harris because she believes Harris will act in the best interests of all Americans. On the other hand, Ben Gottwald, a Traverse City resident and former Marine, is supporting Trump in the hope of see economic growth and controlled spending.

Charles Swanson of Auburn Hills acknowledges mixed feelings towards Harris but will vote for her, disliking Trump’s track record. Jolynn Harris, a retiree from Adrian, aligns with Trump’s tax cuts and border wall, expressing a lack of confidence in Harris’s competency. Nearing the election, the voters yearn for stability and unity in the country, acknowledging the significant challenges ahead.
