TL/DR –

A new poll indicates that former President Donald Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris by 15 points among likely voters in Arkansas. The poll, conducted by Talk Business & Politics and Hendrix College, revealed a 55-40% margin in Trump’s favor. Despite the Republican lead in Arkansas, Harris seems to be polling slightly better than previous Democratic candidates, with a slight lead in the Second and Third congressional districts, and her campaign might have beneficial consequences for down ballot races.

Trump Leads Harris by 15 Points in Arkansas Poll

Former President Donald Trump holds a 15-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in a new Arkansan poll.

A poll by Talk Business & Politics and Hendrix College reports a 55-40% margin favoring Trump among likely Arkansas voters. In the 2020 presidential election, Trump won Arkansas with 62.4% of the vote.

Conducted from Sept. 5-6, the poll surveyed 696 respondents before the only projected debate between Trump and Harris. The results carry a margin of error of +/- 4.6%.

With Trump’s consistent popularity in Arkansas, Roby Brock, Editor-in-chief of Talk Business & Politics, identified the results as in line with historical performance.

Despite Republican dominance in Arkansas, Harris is polling slightly better than past Democratic nominees. According to Dr. Jay Barth, a politics professor at Hendrix, this could signify a positive turn for down ballot races.

“Should Harris’s improvement hold, it could impact down ticket elections, particularly in regions with competitive state legislative races,” Barth said.

While Harris leads slightly in Central and Northwest Arkansas, Trump secures about two-thirds of rural voters. “Except for the 30-44 age group where Harris claims a slim majority, Trump has a significant lead across all other age groups,” said Robert Coon, a local Republican consultant.
