Biden’s contentious green plans could secure red and swing state wins

TL/DR –

The Biden administration has invested $250 billion in infrastructure and clean energy projects in Republican and swing states. The president has allocated $478 billion to these projects, partly from the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, with an additional half a billion still available for spending. Biden’s administration has particularly focused on job-generating investments in battleground states and clean energy initiatives, which are unlikely to be repealed even if Biden loses the election due to their scale and impact.

Biden’s Clean Energy and Infrastructure Investments in Key States

The Biden administration has injected $250 billion into clean energy and infrastructure projects in Republican and swing states. This effort aims to gain an advantage over former President Donald Trump in upcoming elections.

Earlier in March, the announcement of $478 billion worth of infrastructure and clean energy projects was released, courtesy of the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The president has an additional half a billion dollars from the legislation to further bolster investments in battleground states.

Despite trailing Trump in six swing states, Biden hopes job-creating investments will help turn the tide. $10 billion in grants and investments have been shared with Michigan and North Carolina, and $46 billion with Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nevada.

In a White House statement, it was noted that the U.S. is regaining footing in critical sectors like infrastructure, clean energy, semiconductors, and biotechnology, thanks to Biden’s Investing in America Agenda.

Unlikely Repeal of Biden’s Clean Energy Legislation

Biden’s extensive investments in clean energy legislation may prove hard to repeal, even if he loses the election. GOP governors would likely resist reversing the investments, according to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.

Arizona’s Infrastructure and Clean Energy Investments

Arizona, where Biden is currently trailing by 3 points, has received $8.6 billion. More than half of these funds have been allocated to improving transportation infrastructure, including electric vehicle charging stations and initiatives to promote clean energy.

Georgia’s Clean Energy Boost

Georgia, a swing state won narrowly by Biden in 2020, has been granted $10.5 billion for clean water, infrastructure, clean energy, and related incentives. This has led to the creation of 4,000 clean energy jobs. Included in these investments is a $2.5 billion expansion of Qcells’s solar panel manufacturing capacity.

Michigan’s Public Infrastructure Improvement

In Michigan, the Biden administration has invested $10.8 billion in public infrastructure and clean energy, also addressing the national issue of lead pipes and service lines.

Florida’s job creation via Investments

In Florida, the Biden administration has invested $16.7 billion in public infrastructure and clean energy, leading to the creation of 1.2 million jobs, including 2,700 clean energy jobs.
