Manchin Reports $20.7B for West Virginia in FY 2023 Review

West Virginia Receives over $20.7 billion in Federal Funding for 2023

U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, unveiled that West Virginia received $20,731,406,457 in fiscal year 2023, assisting the state’s priorities, communities, and families. This substantial amount includes $122 million in Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) requests that Senator Manchin secured.

“As part of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I work daily to ensure our people and communities get the resources they require. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Inflation Reduction Act and other essential legislation will bring more historic investments in the coming years,” Senator Manchin expressed.

With his support, West Virginia received $12.3 billion in direct payments, including $9.66 billion in social security benefits and $1.15 billion for Veterans benefits.

List of Federal Grants Secured by Senator Manchin in 2023:

National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA)

Secured $1.2 billion to improve broadband access across West Virginia. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program funded over $1.2 billion for the state’s broadband projects on June 26, 2023.

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)

Announced $1.1 billion to support infrastructure, laboratory modernization upgrades, assessment of electric power systems, and development of the next generation of energy businesses. This includes $40 million for the Morgantown National Energy Technology Laboratory on April 5, 2023.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Secured $356 million for the improvement of water systems, access to clean drinking water, and redevelopment of brownfields sites. This includes $109 million to support water systems and expand access to safe drinking water across the state on November 29, 2023.
