Launch of Environmental Justice Climate Corps at Climate Week NYC

During Climate Week NYC, the US Environmental Protection Agency and AmeriCorps presented the Environmental Justice Climate Corps (EJCC) Program. This initiative, a part of President Biden’s American Climate Corps, is designed to build opportunities for people to support underserved and low-income communities. The program will support over 250 AmeriCorps VISTA members across the US for three years. The American Climate Corps plans to mobilize a diverse generation of over 20,000 Americans in its first year to work on energy-efficient technologies, conservation, and environmental justice, while creating pathways to high-quality jobs in clean energy and climate resilience.

Better Buildings Initiative Progress Report Highlights Energy Savings

The US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Better Buildings Initiative collaborates with public and private sector partners to achieve significant energy, waste, and emission reduction. The 2024 Better Buildings Initiative progress report reveals that partners, including 28 Fortune 100 companies and over 90 state and local governments, have saved nearly $22 billion and reduced harmful greenhouse gas emissions by over 220 million metric tons since 2011.

Energy Bills Passed by House Before Recess

Several energy and environmental bills were passed by the House of Representatives prior to a six-week recess. This includes the Next Generation Pipelines Research and Development Act and the Geothermal Energy Opportunity Act.
