Sec. Rollins Prioritizes Farmers, Shifts from Biden’s Policies in 100 Days
TL/DR –
In the first 100 days of the Trump Administration, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins has cancelled over 3,600 contracts and grants, saving over $5.5 billion, in an effort to reverse the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) agenda of the Biden Administration. Rollins has issued a memorandum to rescind all DEI programs, redirecting focus towards unity, equality, meritocracy, and color-blind policies, and ensuring programs are supportive of farmers and ranchers. She has also announced the cancellation of the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities (PCSC) and is reviewing federal funding given to states such as Maine and California, in order to ensure taxpayer dollars directly support farmers.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Prioritizes Farmers Over Woke Agenda
(Washington, D.C., May 1, 2025) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins has prioritized farmers during the first 100 days of the Trump Administration, reversing the Biden Administration’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) agenda. The focus is on cutting red tape and wasteful spending rather than funding DEI initiatives, as Rollins believes American farmers and ranchers need reduced regulations.
Secretary Rollins said “We’ve put American farmers first by cancelling over 3,600 contracts and grants, saving more than $5.5 billion in the first 100 days of the Trump Administration.”
Secretary Rollins issued a memorandum rescinding all DEI programs, replacing them with meritocracy and color-blind policies. She also directed USDA to review Inflation Reduction Act funding to ensure it supports farmers and ranchers rather than DEI or far-left climate programs. USDA has since terminated more than $5.5 billion in grants and contracts, and cancelled nearly 1,000 employee trainings.
Rollins sent a letter to Maine Governor Janet Mills and to Governor Gavin Newsom to review federal funding and ensure it abides by federal law.
Lastly, Rollins cancelled the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities (PCSC) to ensure funds support farmers rather than non-governmental organizations. This move aims to cut bureaucratic red tape and put farmers first.
