Sen. Ernst Queries Biden Signs on Public Projects
TL/DR –
Senator Joni Ernst is questioning why the Biden administration is encouraging federal agencies to place promotional signs next to taxpayer-funded projects. The signs declare that the projects were funded by President Joe Biden rather than taxpayers. In a letter, Ernst criticized this practice and asked for details regarding the cost of the signs.
Sen. Ernst Questions Biden Administration’s Project Promotion Signs
Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, is scrutinizing the Biden administration’s initiative of promoting the President by placing signs next to federally-funded projects. She expressed her concern in a letter addressed to Shalanda Young, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget.
Ernst reveals that federal agencies are tasked to post signs on projects, claiming they were funded by President Joe Biden, not taxpayers. These signs have been up for the past year, with the White House even offering guidance on their placement.
“Political campaign signs are not infrastructure,” Ernst wrote, accusing Biden of utilizing the ‘Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’ as a piggy bank to aid his re-election campaign, while real infrastructure like roads and bridges crumble.
She cited the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) demand to attach a sign to construction projects funded entirely or partially by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law or Inflation Reduction Act. The sign should display the Investing in America emblem and identify the project as funded by President Biden’s respective laws.
Ernst, who voted against both the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, requests information on how much taxpayers had to spend on these promotional signs, including their design, production, and installation costs.
