Trump Announces Plan to Lower Energy Costs Amid High Diesel Prices

Trump’s Plan to Lower Diesel Prices

The former US President, Donald Trump, has conveyed plans to alleviate the stress caused by high diesel prices. Trump’s strategy involves tapping into Russia’s diesel reserves, which could massively impact the global market and provide some much-needed relief for American agriculture and trucking industries.

Russia to Supply Diesel to the Global Market

In a recent statement, Donald Trump disclosed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to “immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during November, and 1,000,000 Tons thereafter.” This announcement followed a fruitful discussion between the two leaders.

Trump elaborated on his Truth Social platform, stating that Russia would deliver an additional 3,000,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel shortly. He also assured that diesel prices would see a rapid drop, benefiting Americans at large, especially farmers, ranchers, and truckers.

Driving Diesel Prices Down

Soaring diesel prices, exacerbated by the wars in Ukraine and Iran, have prompted Republicans to urge Trump to bring costs down before the midterms in November. Trump responded positively, assuring the nation that “prices will come tumbling, and it’s all going to be over soon one way or the other.”

Impacts on the Trucking Industry

High diesel costs have hit the trucking industry hard, with a string of bankruptcy filings occurring in recent months. As diesel reached an average of $6.26 per gallon across the country, several trucking and freight businesses found themselves filing for bankruptcy.

Executive Order for Red-Dyed Diesel

In addition to the diesel agreement with Russia, Trump signed an executive order this week allowing for the continued tax and penalty-free use of red-dyed diesel, which is typically restricted.
