14-year-old Hospitalized After Car-Bicycle Crash at Perkins Park, Big Bay
A 14-year-old was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries following a car-bicycle accident at Perkins Park, Big Bay Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. when Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a personal injury crash report near County Road 550 in Powell Township.
The driver involved, a 16-year-old male from Gwinn, was exiting Perkins Park in a 2010 Subaru when the incident took place. The victim, a 14-year-old boy from Big Bay, was riding his pedal bike when he unexpectedly entered the car’s path.
The young cyclist sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by the car and was quickly transported to UPHS – Marquette for medical attention. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Powell Township Fire/EMS, and UPHS Marquette staff promptly attended the scene.
The investigation regarding the car-bicycle accident at Perkins Park is still ongoing, with more details expected to emerge soon.
