The Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) has announced an impressive grant and scholarship distribution for the first quarter of its fiscal year. ACF and its donors have awarded a total of $27,378,166. These funds were distributed by the ACF and its six statewide regional offices, located in Cochise, Flagstaff, the Gila Valley, Sedona, Yavapai County, and Yuma.
These $27.4 million grants, both discretionary and advised, were divided among five strategic priority areas including Health Innovations, Community Improvement & Development, Environment & Sustainability, Arts & Culture, and Quality Education.
Health Innovations received $11 million, benefiting 933 organizations and programs dedicated to health, health care, medical research, and a variety of human services. For Community Improvement & Development, $2 million was awarded to 175 programs supporting housing, community and neighborhood development, financial literacy training, legal assistance, and crime prevention programs.
The area of Environment & Sustainability was granted $1.2 million, impacting 199 organizations and programs focusing on environmental education, renewable resources, conservation, and animal welfare. Arts & Culture saw $3.8 million distributed to 177 artistic and cultural organizations across Arizona.
Quality Education was another big winner, receiving a total of $5.1 million awarded in scholarships and education-related grants. Of the quarter’s total, college scholarships accounted for $411,553, benefiting 104 students in pursuit of higher education. These scholarships are granted to Arizona students for a variety of colleges, universities, and technical schools both within Arizona and across the United States.
Beyond these strategic areas, 27 nonprofit organizations with agency endowments managed by the ACF also received their annual distributions during the second quarter of the ACF’s fiscal year, contributing $4.3 million to the total distribution for the quarter.
