Arizona Republicans Regain Sensibility

16

TL/DR –

The article discusses the views of several readers on various topics including Proposition 137, acts of kindness, voting preferences, Al McCoy’s contributions to Arizona sports broadcasting, and the LDS community’s voting patterns. One reader agrees with Senator Warren Petersen’s support of Proposition 137 but criticizes him for not trusting the 2020 vote and hiring innumerate auditors. Another reader shares a personal experience of an act of kindness, while one explains their decision to vote for Kari Lake due to economic concerns. A reader criticizes the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University for not recognizing local contributors like Al McCoy. Finally, one reader disputes a recent article suggesting that the LDS community in Arizona might favor Kamala Harris, predicting that 80% of the Mormon vote will go to Donald Trump.

Arizona Immigration Bill Sparks Debate Between Senators and Protesters

I mostly agree with Sen. Warren Petersen’s support for Proposition 137. Voting for numerous judges, most of whom are likely competent, is a huge time sink when filling out our ballots. Few voters recognize these judges, and many vote to retain them to prevent extremists from removing someone they politically oppose.

However, my concern lies in Petersen, one of the Republicans who questioned the 2020 vote’s credibility, supporting this logical proposition. Worse, he hired auditors with limited numerical skills to inspect the vote on behalf of these Republicans.

Could Petersen’s support for Proposition 137 indicate a return to sanity for the Republican Party, once renowned for common sense and good governance?

Proof of Good People Still Existing

Ever questioned if good people are still around? They are! An act of kindness I experienced at my local Home Depot reaffirmed this. An 80-year-old lady faced difficulty transporting a massive 21-gallon tub and other gardening supplies on her scooter. A kind stranger offered to deliver these items to her home, leaving before she could express her gratitude. Such acts of kindness are invaluable and deserve recognition.

Why I’m Voting for Kari Lake

With housing, food, and entertainment becoming increasingly unaffordable, why should we reelect the current administration? Despite talking big, what has Ruben Gallego achieved? I’m voting for Kari Lake because I can’t bear another four years of this economy.

ASU Missed Honoring Al McCoy

ASU’s Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication missed an opportunity to honor Al McCoy before his passing. They chose CNN’s Wolf Blitzer for the Walter Cronkite Award. Why not honor local figures who’ve significantly contributed to broadcasting? Al McCoy, for instance, had a profound impact on Arizona sports broadcasting. It’s a pity he wasn’t honored while he was still with us.

LDS Members Will Likely Choose Trump

The Stephanie Murray piece titled “Ariz. Mormon advisory group backs Harris bid” is misleading. The headline suggests that the LDS voters in Arizona may favor Harris based on a 51-member startup group’s hope. However, I predict that Trump will secure 80% of the Mormon vote.
