Family Clings to Hope for Missing Worker After Baltimore Bridge Collapse

Relatives of one of the missing workers from the Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse remain hopeful about finding their family member alive.

“We’re holding onto faith and praying for a miracle,” said Carlos Suazo Sandoval, the brother of missing worker Maynor Suazo Sandoval, while speaking with CNN en Español.

“We continue to hope, despite time being against us,” he stated.

38-year-old Maynor, a Honduran national, was working on the bridge’s asphalt when the structure gave way. His brother shared this information.

Speaking from a family staging area in Baltimore, Carlos disclosed that they’re still coming to terms with the incident and haven’t yet informed Maynor’s 72-year-old mother in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Maynor, one of eight siblings, was known for his kindness, joyfulness, and “visionary” nature, according to his brother.

“He always dreamt of running his own businesses and spending his retirement in Honduras,” Carlos said of Maynor.

Another sibling revealed to CNN that Maynor, a married father of two, has lived in the United States for 18 years.
