Suspected Carjacker Arrested After High-Speed Police Chase

A driver suspected of carjacking a Toyota pickup truck was arrested Monday evening following a high-speed chase. LAPD’s Wilshire Division first initiated the pursuit, chasing the suspect eastbound on the 10 Freeway, with the pursuit extending to the 110 and 405 Freeways. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) took over the chase.

Traveling at approximately 60 mph on the 405, authorities deflated the suspect’s vehicle’s passenger-side tires using a spike strip near Springdale Street. The suspect, however, continued fleeing until reaching Huntington Beach, near Beach Boulevard, where he finally stopped.

Upon stopping, the suspect ignored officers’ commands to exit the vehicle. Several CHP officers, using a shield, approached and arrested him. However, the suspect resisted arrest, leading to further restraint before being placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.

Footage of the incident was captured by Sky5, which was covering the pursuit overhead.
