Acclaimed playwright Grace Jasmine is set to present readings of her two one-act plays, Almost Heaven (Casi Cielo) and Ghost of a Chance, on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 7:00 PM at the Desert Stages Theatre in Scottsdale, Arizona. The event is part of the DG Footlights New Works Readings series. Jasmine, known for successful plays like The Masher and F**Ked Up Fairy Tales, will also direct the performances.

The reading will take place at Scottsdale Desert Stages, located at 7014 E Camelback Rd, Suite #0586, in the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall. Doors will open at 6:30 PM. The evening will conclude with a talk back facilitated by DG Phoenix Ambassador, Sally Jane Kerschen-Sheppard. Entrance is free with RSVP, and the event will last approximately one hour.
About the Plays
In Almost Heaven, a despairing young woman planning to commit suicide atop the Empire State Building meets a quirky group of angels. Ghost of a Chance follows a struggling actress who encounters a ghostly crew of actors in a church, eager to guide her towards success.
Grace Jasmine: Prolific Playwright and Winner of Hollywood Encore! Producers’ Award
Grace Jasmine’s work spans theatre, film, fiction, and nonfiction. Her play, The Masher, earned the Hollywood Encore! Producers’ Award and was a Quarterfinalist for the ScreenCraft Stage Play Contest. Jasmine’s screenplay, Get a Life, was a Quarterfinalist at the Hollywood International Screenplay Awards.
Grace Jasmine’s Ongoing Collaborations and Upcoming Projects
Jasmine is currently working with Ron Barnett on her new musical black comedy, Skin Deep- slated for a 2024 premiere. She has also completed new screenplays, Ghosting and Lit Chicks, and a middle-grade novel, The Island House. Jasmine’s company, LOUD KARMA PRODUCTIONS, awarded The Best Emerging Female or Nonbinary Playwright at the 2023 Hollywood Fringe.
