Scottsdale Arts Learning & Innovation Presents Visions ’24

Scottsdale Arts Learning & Innovation is set to host the “Visions ’24” exhibition, showcasing the creativity and talent of high school students nurtured in the 2023–24 Visions program. About the Visions Program

Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, Visions is an acclaimed year-long art initiative for six Valley high schools. The program had its genesis in 1999, coinciding with the inauguration of the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA). Now managed by Brittany Arnold of Scottsdale Arts Learning & Innovation, Visions has become a platform for students to express their unique perspectives and artistic abilities.

Visions’24 Exhibition Highlights

Students involved in the Visions program attend workshops and retreats led by professional artists, tour universities, and engage with SMoCA exhibitions throughout the year. The program culminates in a final exhibition displaying their artwork. This year, Mari Escobar Espinoza from Tempe High School, and Jackson Washburn from Chaparral High School, are among the 39 students who will be presenting their creative journey.

Students on the Program

Mari Espinoza uses her artwork “Lurking About” to express her mental health journey, while Jackson Washburn’s photography project titled “Define Androgynous” challenges societal norms and personal stereotypes. Each artist uses Visions as a platform to address personal and societal issues through their artwork, contributing to the rich legacy of the program.
