Sidik Fofana, a Brooklyn-based short story writer and public school teacher, participated in the U-M English Department Zell Visiting Writers Series on October 5, 2023. Renowned Brooklyn-based author and public school teacher, Sidik Fofana, will be reading from and discussing his work at the Zell Visiting Writers Series of U-M English Department. Known for his 2022 debut collection, Stories from the Tenants Downstairs, Fofana’s stories revolve around characters in Harlem, confronted with personal challenges amid threatening gentrification.

The event includes a Q&A session, followed by a free talk by Fofana titled, “Promise That You Will Sing About Me: Craft Lessons That I’ve Learned From Hip-Hop Songs” the next day (10-11 a.m., 3222 Angell Hall).
