TL/DR –

Senator John Fetterman commissioned expelled Rep. George Santos to make a video on Cameo encouraging Sen. Bob Menendez, who has been charged with acting as a foreign agent to Egypt, to “stay strong”. Santos, who has been expelled from Congress, recorded the video without knowing that “Bobby” referred to Menendez. Menendez and his wife Nadine Arslanian Menendez have been indicted on corruption-related offenses and charged with accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes for the senator’s influence, to which they have pleaded not guilty.

Sen. Fetterman’s Ingenious Political Jab Using Cameo Platform

Sen. John Fetterman commissioned expelled Rep. George Santos to create a Cameo video for Sen. Bob Menendez, who faces foreign agent charges for Egypt, encouraging him to “stay strong.”

Fetterman tweeted his support for Menendez, dissuading him from resigning despite his legal predicaments. He used the video featuring Santos, a recently expelled legislator, to assert this message.

Santos, unaware that “Bobby” was Menendez, encouraged him to stay strong and resist his detractors. Reacting to Fetterman’s tweet, Santos said he enjoyed the act but wished he knew who Bobby was.

Menendez and his wife are currently facing corruption charges, including accepting bribes for political influence. Despite their not guilty plea, some Senate Democrats have called for his resignation.

Fetterman, addressing the situation, argued against expelling Santos while allowing Menendez to remain. Santos, after his expulsion, joined Cameo, earning $200 per video as a “Former Congressional ‘Icon’.”

His offerings on Cameo include a range of messages from holiday greetings to political jabs. The Ohio Democrats also took advantage of this, asking Santos to record a gratitude message for GOP Senate candidate Bernie Moreno’s generous campaign donations.

Santos was expelled from Congress after an ethics report concluded his fraudulent exploitation of his candidacy. He has also pleaded not guilty to 23 federal charges related to Covid-19 unemployment benefits fraud, misuse of campaign funds, and false declaration of personal finances.

Cameo CEO Steven Galanis expressed that politicians’ presence on the platform is rare. However, Santos, no longer subject to campaign finance laws, has proven popular, selling out multiple times on his first day. Santos joins ex-politicians such as Sean Spicer and Rudy Giuliani on the platform.
