Helping Veterans Apply for VA Health Benefits to Reduce Medical Costs

198

TL/DR –

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) offers healthcare benefits to Veterans and their families, potentially reducing their healthcare and prescription expenses. Veterans may also qualify for a tax-free monthly compensation payment under the PACT Act (2022), and additional benefits are available from the State of New Mexico. Veterans can apply for these benefits and get more information at an in-person Outreach Event at the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services, or online at “Apply for VA Healthcare@VA.gov”.

Veteran Healthcare Benefits through VA VHA

Spouses, family, friends, caretakers, and acquaintances of Veterans can assist with healthcare and prescription expenses. They can do this by encouraging the Veteran to apply for healthcare benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The Veteran and their family might also benefit from a tax-free monthly compensation payment under the PACT Act (2022) if they qualify. Additional benefits for New Mexico Veterans are available through the State of New Mexico.

Reduction in Healthcare and Pharmacy Expenses for Qualifying Veterans

Veterans who qualify and apply for VA VHA benefits could observe a significant reduction in their healthcare and pharmacy expenses. Veterans who meet the eligibility criteria can receive healthcare through VA VHA. They could also be eligible for a monthly tax-free compensation payment to assist with household and living expenses under the PACT Act (2022).
