The Ishpeming City Council is arranging finances for its tennis court project that aims to construct eight new courts.

This project is expected to provide fresh sports facilities to the Ishpeming Public Schools and local residents. The school district’s superintendent confirmed that they would contribute up to $300,000 to the budget. The city council echoed the sentiment by pledging an equal amount and securing the possibility of a $400,000 DNR trust fund grant.

Ishpeming City Manager, Craig Cugini, voiced appreciation for the council members for their efforts in engaging with the public. He insisted that it was important for them to listen to public opinion, in addition to the recommendations made by his staff.
