The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) program is organizing a Beyond BOW event in Marquette County. The event, intended for women aged 18 and older, offers an opportunity to improve outdoor skills in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere, with classes on outdoor skills, safety and outdoor clothing. A sunset hike of 2-3 miles, requiring a headlamp, will be held at 6 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, Oct. 25, and registration materials will be available closer to the event.

Michigan DNR’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program Launching New Event

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is offering a Beyond BOW event this month in Marquette County through its Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) program.

BOW aims to empower women of 18 years and older by enhancing outdoor skills in a stress-free, non-competitive environment. The program also provides classes on outdoor safety and clothing.

A sunset hike is scheduled for 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, Oct. 25. The meeting spot is a trailhead approximately 5 miles from Marquette. Participants should hold either a Recreation Passport or a State of Michigan day pass for parking.

The hike spans 2 to 3 miles and participants need to bring a headlamp. Registration details will be updated on as the event proceeds.
