TL/DR –
Kari Lake, a former Arizona governor candidate, continues to attack her previous political opponents on social media, despite losing in the U.S. Senate race. She now serves as a senior adviser to the U.S. Agency for Global Media, overseeing the Voice of America, and has recently supported substantial staff cuts and the curtailing of news output as part of Trump’s advisory Department of Government Efficiency. Lake has also remained politically active, criticizing figures such as former President Joe Biden and Sen. Mark Kelly on her social media platforms.
Kari Lake Continues to Attack Former Opponents Despite Election Loss
Despite the conclusion of the U.S. Senate race in November, Kari Lake continues to launch rhetorical attacks on her previous opponent. In the past week, Lake took to social media to criticize U.S. Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., for opposing the Republican stopgap budget plan.
Lake accused Gallego of partisanship, claiming he was willing to shut down the government due to his disdain for President Trump. She has also frequently referenced Gallego on social media, even after her election loss to him in November.
Other posts from Lake have included accusations of Gallego being a far-left radical, supporting drug cartels, and wanting to vaccinate chickens. The conservative online publication, the Bulwark, reported that Lake even confronted Gallego at a posh club in Washington, D.C., with similar accusations.
Lake has also targeted Gov. Katie Hobbs, who defeated her narrowly in 2022, while continuing to spread baseless claims about election fraud. She has accused Hobbs of being both corrupt and incompetent in her role as governor.
Despite her unsuccessful campaigns in 2022 and 2024, Lake has transitioned to a role as a senior adviser to the U.S. Agency for Global Media under the Trump administration. She has quickly made policy changes, initially pledging to use her journalistic experience to fight an “information war” but later supporting the shuttering of news on Voice of America (VOA) as part of Trump’s advisory Department of Government Efficiency.
Lake has justified mass layoffs at the agency by labeling it as “irretrievably broken” and the most corrupt agency in Washington DC. She has also cancelled media subscriptions, terminated a building lease, and installed photos of Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
Simultaneously, Lake continues to engage in partisan battles, criticizing former President Biden and Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., over a space mission incident. She claimed Biden had left astronauts stranded in space for 10 months, and criticized Kelly for not giving enough credit to Elon Musk for the astronauts’ safe return via SpaceX.
