TL/DR –

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, in her new book “No Going Back,” suggests that President Joe Biden’s dog Commander should not be allowed on the White House grounds if she were President. This suggestion comes in light of Commander having bitten Secret Service personnel in 24 separate incidents, leading to his removal from the White House. Noem drew criticism and controversy for her comments, which some interpreted as a suggestion that the dog should be shot, a claim she did not directly address.

South Dakota Governor Suggests Similar Fate for Biden’s Dog in New Book

In her latest book “No Going Back,” South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem implies that President Joe Biden’s dog, Commander, should face the same outcome as the working dog she shot on her farm. Noem suggests a major 2025 priority for her, if she were president, would be to remove Commander from the property.

Noem’s book includes her hypothetical first day plans as president: “The first thing I’d do is make sure Joe Biden’s dog was nowhere on the grounds. But my dog, Foster, would sure be welcome. He comes with me to the capitol all the time and loves everyone,” she writes.

Commander, the Biden family’s German shepherd, has a history of biting Secret Service personnel. There have been 24 reported instances of this behavior at the White House and other locations, based on CNN’s February report. The dog was removed from the White House in October last year.

Noem, on a recent CBS’ “Face the Nation” appearance, questioned Biden’s decisions about Commander: “Joe Biden’s dog has attacked 24 Secret Service people. So, how many people is enough people to be attacked and dangerously hurt before you make a decision on a dog and what to do with it? That’s the question that the president should be held accountable to,” she said.

When the “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan asked, “You’re saying he should be shot?,” Noem responded, without pausing, “That’s what the president should be accountable to. What is the number?”
