Registered Nurses (RNs) at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) in Bangor, Maine, are celebrating a bargaining victory that addresses health and safety concerns of both patients and nurses. Today, they will hold a press conference with Graham Platner, candidate for U.S. Senate, emphasizing their call for universal health care justice.
Erin Oberson, a RN in the labor and delivery unit and negotiating team member, stated “We secured new safety protections for all nurses and patients, and achieved significant economic improvements. We will always advocate for our patients’ needs. It’s time to transition our health care system from profit-centered to patient-centered. We look forward to discussing with Graham Platner how our federal candidates can promote health care justice.”
