The Marquette Climate Adaptation Task Force (CATF) is initiating a program addressing climate change. This initiative was launched with a presentation at Northern Michigan University’s Northern Center as part of its Marquette 2049 Learning Circles Series.

The main objective of the program is to engage in discussions about the possible impacts of climate change on Marquette city and county over the forthcoming 25 years.

Climate Change Impact Already Evident, says Task Force Coordinator

Tyler Penrod, the Marquette County Climate Adaption Task Force Coordinator, pointed out that the recent mild winter is indicative of the ongoing climate shifts. Penrod explained, “We experienced spring-like temperatures in early February, and late January, affecting cultural events such as sled dog and ski races.”

Penrod further warned of future climate change repercussions on housing, natural resource demands, and weather patterns.

Searching for Multiple Climate Change Solutions

The Marquette Climate Adaptation Task Force is advocating for collective efforts in finding diverse solutions to climate change issues before they worsen.
