According to 2023 data, over a fifth of the U.S. population had Medicaid-funded health care coverage. The cuts also threaten agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and National Institutes of Health (NIH) that provide vital research and guidance for health care professionals.
The March 12 event is part of a broader effort to combat threats to U.S. health care. It’s organized by the Center for Popular Democracy and co-sponsored by NNU, which represents over 225,000 nationwide nurses and advocates for improved policies and legislation.
On March 13, NNU will host an educational webinar on defending against significant Medicaid cuts. The webinar will feature speakers like NNU President Cathy Kennedy, RN, and AFL-CIO President Liz Schuler. Registration for the webinar is available here.
